October 23rd, 2009 - Posted by sibyllemarielle

On the weekend from the 17 until the 18 October 2009 the K2 Women’s Alliance met for their season kick off in Soelden / Austria. The girls from Germany, Austria and Switzerland gathered for a weekend filled with skiing, clinics and party. After skiing on saturday morning with heavy snow falls and storms, the girls spent the afternoon at the K2 test center where Thomas Wilhelm filled them in with the latest information on the K2 product line.

24. Kaunertal Opening

October 19th, 2009 - Posted by dani

Last weekend the 24. edition of the Kaunertal Opening (Austria) took place. As some of you might know, we got some snow, so the weather wasn't the best, but good enough to have a rail competition! Ruth Hagspiel, young german rider won the girls comp and K2 Snowboarder Julia Baumgartner won the girls Snowboard Comp, congratulations!

Down in the valley Charlie was waiting for the thirsty and hungry skiers and snowboarders to welcome them with some food and drinks, which were more than welcome...

K2 Charlie is back from the dead!!!

October 19th, 2009 - Posted by mpowell

After the long drive from Charlie's near death bed and a few quick stops in Maryland and Delaware, Charlie was off to Pennsylvania for some serious pre-season sales.  Buckman's Ski and Snowboard was the first venue and for their customers, these sales are the equivalent to a pow day for skiers in regions blessed with such a thing.  We visited three of their locations all with massive tents and deals to good to pass up. Better yet, Charlie was there with his painted on grin greeting people and reminding them the snow is on its way.

A little off roading to reserved parking for K2 Charlie to do his job catching potential customers attention.

Costumers raking the tents for that gem of deal to good to miss.

All good things must come to an end. After four days of rainy, miserable weather things started looking a little better in time for the massive clean up. While Charlie was warming up on the side lines getting ready to hit the road, I assisted to take down.

With a little persuation we managed to get the entire Buckmans staff together for a group photo with Charlie, probably our best of the trip...

Now its off to my home state of New York for a few days to investigate the rumors of snow fall and annual pre-season parties. Thanks again to Buckmans for a great couple days and good food!

Season started!

October 19th, 2009 - Posted by black

I don´t remember when we had snow that early. Well, I actually do. At least seeing some white spots high up in the mountains, or getting snowed in during some fall climbing trips. But when was the last time ski resorts opened mid-October, or one could still go up because the "summer season" is still on BUT ski down?

A lot of resorts in Europe took advantage of the snowfalls last week and opened up this weekend.

Check the Schladming website to see what snow in October looks like. Not anything different than snow in February.
