CMH contest winners announced!!!!
Richard Draves of Seattle, Washington was the lucky winner of the CMH
Heli-ski touring trip for 2.
Ski touring allows us to experience the mountains in a way that is very
different from heli-skiing. The quiet is deafening. There’s plenty of time
to fully absorb the magic of the setting. Your body gets into an almost
Zen-like rhythm as you patiently climb towards a new vista at every corner,
and the top of the peak that lies beyond. And after you’ve enjoyed the
compulsory summit snack, stripped off the skins and clicked your bindings
into downhill mode, the turns seem that much more satisfying because you
know you earned every one of them.
Chris Burg of Lake Elmo, Minnesota was the lucky winner of the CMH Heli trip
for 2.
CMH Heli-Skiing is the world's most comprehensive and spectacular wilderness
skiing experience. 12 distinct ski areas in the remote mountains of British
Columbia cover 15,765 square kilometers: more than a third the area of
Switzerland! Each lodge offers world-class Heli-Skiing, with access to both
wide open glacier skiing and tree skiing. All offer comfortable rooms with
private baths, as well as various amenities. Outfitted with highly skilled
chefs and pastry chefs, CMH is sure to make the culinary aspect of your
vacation memorable.

K2 Skis Signs Big Mountain Skier J.T. Holmes
SEATTLE, Wash. – January 11, 2010
K2 skis has added industry icon JT Holmes to its stable of athletes and will join legendary skiers Mike Hattrup, Reggie and Zach Crist, Kip Garre, Andrew McLean and Martin Volken to it’s BackSide Team. JT will be actively involved in product development of the “Side” skis (Darkside, Sidestash and Hardside), to ensure these skis continue to fit the style and performance needs of the big mountain skier.
“It’s a natural fit for JT to be on K2’s. His personality and style reflect everything that K2 is about and we are looking forward to getting him involved with the development of our BackSide products,” says Global Marketing Manager, Mike Gutt. “JT brings the team a youthful outlook and most importantly resonates with skiers who have been watching his skills and style over the past decade.”
Says Holmes on joining the K2 crew, “K2's Backside series of skis are perfectly suited to my style. I ski forward, so I don't need a twin tip. I enjoy clean landings. I need versatility. I spend a lot of time hiking in the backcountry, and both utility and weight are important factors that K2 addresses with the Backside series."
Mike Hattrup, who spearheads the BackSide category for K2, sees this as a great addition to an already strong group of seasoned veterans driving the program and developing skis for the backcountry. "We're fortunate to have JT on board; his hard charging style and innovative vision will bring an important dimension to this category. It's going to be fun working with him."

NostalSki
Ähmm. What? And why are there old-school road bikes parked in the snow?

Because it was NostalSki time in Krün. A ski race like back in the days. Only wood skis were allowed, with the classic strap bindings, leather boots, bamboo poles and typical woolen clothing. And since the event is so close to Garmisch our tech rep Luis thought there´s only one way to get there, just like back in the days, taking bikes on snowy roads.

Did K2 skis already over 100 years ago?

Pretty damn cold

Would you go out and demo some skis when it´s 30 Celsius below zero? Probably not. However our crew in Sweden built up the demo tent, took a picture once it was done and when they tried to take some more pictures once the testers arrvied the camera was dead. No shit. At least they had a new BMW X1 with permanent heating so they could get inside to warm up again.

Girls skiday Mythenpark / Switzerland

Rippin' Squaw with Rock Stars
Does it get any better than rippin' around Squaw Valley with Ingrid Backstrom and Jessica Sobolowski? That's just what a dozen women did this past weekend in the Free Skiing Camp with Ingrid and Jessica (Jan 9-10, 2010)

Jessica, Ingrid and the whole enchilada!
These women ruled the slopes for two days at Squaw - rippin' some gnarly frozen crud to sweet corn snow.

- Jessica and her group on Sunday - on top of Mainline Pocket
These ladies negotiated some steep frozen terrain in Mainline Pocket - awesome skiing!
What a weekend!! And it was inspirational to see the energy and spirit of all these women who charged for two days. My only question is: "when do we get to do this again"?
