The K2 women's weekend was a lot of fun! We had 15 women join, many who were returning to the event from previous years. Plus it snowed the whole time!

Nimbus Independent is back!!
Nimbus is back. Our first webisode of three for the year; En Route Departure takes viewers on a two month adventure. Skiing everywhere from a North American military base, to Mammoth California, the matterhorn, Rome and finally Monte Bianco in Italy.
En Route Departure is a full length 40 minute ski movie featuring the original Nimbus crew: Pep Fujas, Eric Pollard, Chris Benchetler, Andy Mahre and Blake Nyman. The movie also features Anthony Boronowski, Bene Mayr, Dylan Hood, Christian Sirianni, and friends. WOW on St. Patrick's Day
St. Patrick's Day WOW at Squaw Valley titled "Pot Pourri" was exactly that! From firm in the morning to slush in the pm, we had all sorts of snow to ski. The WOW team comprised of NORCAL Alliance members Julie, Fran and El led the women up KT22 and up the mountain in the bright California sunshine.
We topped off the WOW adventure with a couple of hikes up Mainline Pocket where the women who braved the hike were rewarded with some awesome spring snow that skied like butter.

K2's travel notes with the BMW X1
Outfitted with 2 BMW X1's, K2 team riders hit the road last season, from the BMW X1 Live tour stops to photo and video shoots as well as events and contests, they logged some serious miles. They traveled Europe from East to West, North to South. Here´s the first clip of their adventures. Stay tuned for part 2.
K2 Rider Mike Hauser 1st place at the Stubaijam in Austria
Last weekend the Stubaijam 2010 took place in Austria. K2 Skis Rider Mike Hauser joined the competition and had a blast. Mike Hauser won with a great 720 Japan. Congrats!!!!!

Hatt's Tricks: Getting in & out of your skis on steep slopes
As warm weather starts to fill the mountains, we're getting psyched up for spring chuting season. Long days allow plenty of sunshine and good corn, and bootpacking up consolidated snow makes for swift travel. Depending on the line, the changeover between climbing and skiing can be one of the hardest parts, whether it's at the top of a couloir or mid-line at a downclimbing crux. Making these changes on firm snow can be unnerving, but a few simple tricks will provide you with a super stable platform for transitions and give you the confidence for the rest of the line. Der Arlberg ist die Superlative des Weissen Sports und Inbegriff absoluten Ski-Vergnügens. Der Arlberg mit Lech, Zürs, Stuben, St. Christoph und St. Anton bietet weit über 70 Skitouren und eben so viele Variantenabfahrten. Die K2 Skitourentage finden statt in Stuben, in der Wiege des Skilaufs. Stuben, im Herzen des Arlbergs gelegen, ist ein kleines Gebirgsdorf mit großer Skitradition. Während dieser Woche werden Sie vom Tiefschneeweltmeister und staatlich geprüften Ski- und Bergführer Thomas Dietrich sowie staatlich geprüften Ski- bzw. Bergführern aus dem K2 Team begleitet. Während des Camps kann das brandneue Touren-Equipment von K2 kostenlos getestet werden – darunter auch die neuen K2 Felle.

K2 NorCal Ski Day at Northstar
A sunny, warm day at Northstar welcomed our group as we gathered for another morning of skiing, tips & good laughs!
The 2nd K2 NorCal Ski Day was another big success & brought more incredible women together for turns & a good cause. Thank you to everyone who joined us today...we are so appreciative your time and energy AND donations!
Bobo's Ski & Board (www.bobos.com) was on hand to provide K2 demos and our "base camp" area. The Bobo's staff is AWESOME! Joe, Pat, Lynette, Deborah, Sarah & Mary were super organized as they handled registration, donations, and demos for the participants. Bobo's also added a $500 donation to our pool for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation...amazing! We can't thank them enough for their enthusiasm and support with the day. And another shout out to the Northstar crew: THANKS! Everyone at Northstar is always so helpful and friendly. It's like visiting Disneyland.

K2 Traveling Skis Visits Maryland
Wet but happy!
Rain, rain go away! Saturday, March 13 Big Pink did it's dance from Rudy's at Wisp Resort in Deep Creek Maryland. The week previous had been beautiful - bluebird skies, warm temps over firm snow with a nice soft cushion due to over 260 inches that as fallen here this season. As luck would have it, rain came in to make that Saturday a most undesirable ski day to most, so not only were there no crowds, there were no skiers at all! Late season plus rain made skiers stay away, too bad for them because the skiing was still good, and the Traveling Lotta Luv was at its best in these conditions. I had a great time with it, and so did the ladies that got to give it a try. Hope to see you next year, same time, same place!
